The Pumpkin Patch

We went on a little adventure with Uncle Jordan and Taylor to find Marlowe's first pumpkin while they were in town to visit. The weather was not very cooperative for most of the weekend, so when the sun finally came out on Sunday we headed to the pumpkin patch. As you can see from the photos below, Miss M was in the middle of a nap when we arrived. She was a bit perplexed to wake up to a field of bright orange pumpkins and the bright sun in her eyes. Overall though it was a lovely way to spend some time enjoying the fall weather. It was also nice to take out my "real camera" and take some photographs. It was a bit of a challenge with the direct sunlight (as you can see by our extreme squinting at times, haha)

Well the babe has awoken from her nap.

Our Bundle of Joy (and smiles, and smirks, and cute little grunts)

Once again the weeks have flown by without a word written here. The last (almost) 6 weeks have went the quickest though because on June 25th we welcomes our sweet Marlowe June Zimmer into the world. She surprised us all by arriving 2 weeks before her due date (and only 20 minutes after arriving at the hospital), and we couldn't be more in love. Words cannot express how blessed we feel to have our little lady here in our arms. (In fact she is rarely not in our arms).

I am attempting to slowly wade my way back into blogging once again because I know that various family members enjoy following along since we live a few hours away. What that will look like I'm not yet sure. I'm hoping to get into the habit of weekly posts, but to be perfectly honest I have lost track of all sense of time since Marlowe's arrival and I may slip back into silence again. Staring at a computer screen holds little appeal when I could be staring at the many facial expressions of my daughter.  I must also prepare you for an overload of photos filled with an adorable little little girl. This little lady is going to be well photographed.

Well Miss Marlowe is stirring and my coffee is once again cooling before I get a chance to drink it...

I'll be back soon.

Lately

This weekend has been filled with a mixture of cozy laziness and mild organizing.

Fruit smoothie and the bump taking a organizing break. (Smoothie: strawberries, banana, blueberry, ground flax seed, and almond milk)

Simplifying my wardrobe (aka packing away things I won't be fitting into the next few months)
and those boxes in the background hold our crib waiting to be set up!

Lunch, coffee & dessert with a friend. (you can even see the sun decided to shine through the cafe windows)

still working on this project

my drive home from my glucose screening test (thankful to have passed, whoop!)

This is what greeted Ben and I when we arrived home on Monday. The view is currently much less white, but the rain is preventing me from running to the middle of the street to take a photo to show you.

*all pictures taken on my phone*

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Happy Late Birthday Dear Husband

I was still slacking on the blogging when this handsome guy's birthday rolled around a few weeks ago. So I thought I would share this wonderful cliche of a kissing photo here in honor of the big two-five milestone. I can't wait to spend the next three quarters of a century together. I also can't wait to witness you being an amazing father to our baby girl. We are going to be two spoiled ladies, her and I.

And to prove that I only forgot to blog about his birthday, and not the actual celebrating part.... I share with you my mom's instagram photo of our third dinner out that week for his birthday.

I love you Benjamin.

Spring Colors

One of my students shared with me that we are expected to receive four inches of snow this weekend. I am choosing to doubt his weather report not because of his trustworthiness, but simply because I need it to be spring. A few of the top reasons being...

1. I no longer have a jacket that fits my bump.

2. I want to be able to get out of the house and go on evening walks with Ben. We managed a brief walk yesterday but it wasn't very comfortable (see reason #1).

3. I need some color in my life (my pale winter skin included). So while I choose to ignore the talk of snow please enjoy a few glimpses of colors from last weekend spent with our families.

A sneak peak of a baby blanket currently in the works...

Some Easter flowers on my mom's table...

A few details from the adorable gender reveal brunch for my brother and sister-in-law. See more of the detail on Jen's Blog.

In case you were wondering I did check the weather forecast. There is talk of maybe an inch of snow before it turns into rain. I can handle the rain...rain melts snow. Oh and the optimist in me is holding on to the sixty-seven degree day showing up on my 15 day forecast. I can wait...for a bit more.

It's a...

We are thrilled to announce to that the mystery "Baby Z" is a mystery no more.  We can't wait to hold our sweet baby girl in our arms, and I don't think I've stopped smiling since we found out the news. (not that I wouldn't have been smiling if it were a boy...and you know that the ultrasounds technicians never promise to be 100% accurate) If by some chance "she" turns out to be a "he", the adorable clothing that is already piling up may not work out as planned. Something about brightly colored polka dots seem to call my name wherever I go.

Some of my current cravings...

-Root Beer Floats
-Fruit & more fruit...especially grapefruit. I think I could eat a few each day if they didn't involve so much slicing for easy eating.
-Iced Coffee (decaf, ugh haha)  I've been making iced coffee in my french press about once a week and this serves as my afternoon treat when I go back to work after my lunch break. I try to trick myself into thinking it's caffeinated but usually at least one yawn slips through)

Our baby girl is quite the tumbler these days, especially right before we go to bed.  She also likes to greet me with a few kicks right in the morning.

And just because it was too cute- here is the chalkboard sign my sister Beth made for the wonderful reveal party she held for us. Thanks again sister. You are the best :)

Wednesday Words: Fullness of Joy

This has been my memory verse for the past few days. I find that one of the best ways to make verses stay with me is to incorporate them into my design work. It's a change of pace from baby shower invites, and wedding designs...something that causes me to stop and think about the words I am actually typing.

Happy Wednesday Everyone.

A reason to daydream

So months ago I wrote that I was returning to my blog, but needless to say that didn't happen as planned. Things rarely happen as planned it seems and I'm okay with that. My plans are uninspiring in comparison to the things I know are coming.

I have a wonderful excuse though for my lack of writing. A few weeks after posting my "back to blogging" post I suddenly found myself distracted by something This news suddenly filled up every last space in my brain and I found myself daydreaming instead of writing. For the first few weeks it was our little secret, and it was hard to write about anything else when only one thing was truly worth writing about. Not long after our families shared in our overflowing joy and the "secret" was out. These are the moments where it's as if I am drowning in blessings that are so undeserved, and constantly feel the need to come to the surface to give thanks.

We are having a baby.

A BABY.

23 weeks ultrasound.

Today(2 days before the first day of spring) a blizzard is raging outside our cozy home. This snow day has been spent soaking in all the wonderful things that a weekend can't seem to fit into two days. While sipping my (decaf) coffee this morning it occurred to me that I was ready to share about our family of three. I was ready to force myself to slow down and keep a record of what is happening in our lives currently.

There is one little secret remaining until a few more important people are told...will Baby "Z" be a boy or a girl?

To be continued...
